Pride & Polish Names Top Rigs
The grand prize winners of the year-long Pride & Polish Truck Beauty Show were crowned last week at the Great American Trucking Show, and they include some familiar faces. The four championship trucks belong to Bill Rethwisch, Vinnie Dirorio, Bob Brinker and Austin Ashley, all of whom are repeat competitors.
Dirorio’s truck, “Trendsettin’,” took the top prize in the Limited-Mileage Combo category. The 2013 Peterbilt 389 won for the second year straight. It features an orange tractor with chrome and black details and a matching trailer.
Rethwisch also stood atop the podium in the Working Combo category for the second year in a row, but this year he won with a new truck. “Blood, Sweat and Gass” (pictured above) is a two-tone green and white 2013 Peterbilt 389 with a matching Polar tanker. Last year, Rethwisch’s orange combo, “Dreamsicle,” took the category.
Ashley won the Limited-Mileage Bobtail category with a 2007 Peterbilt 379 named “Double Take.” The purple and white tractor also won the Truckers’ Choice National Championship, an award based on online votes.
Brinker showed a pirate-themed black and blue 2000 Freightliner Classic to win the Working Bobtail category.
Best of show winners were also named in each category of the general competition. A violet 2015 Peterbilt 378 featuring bat graphics and pulling a matching Western stepdeck won the Limited-Mileage Combo category. “Wicked” is owned by Ray Rodriguez.
The best of show trophy in the Working Combo category went to a 2003 Kenworth W900L and a matching 2010 Utility reefer owned by Dustin Pope. The truck is viper red and dubbed “Cash on the Barrelhead.”
Another viper red tractor, this time a 2000 Peterbilt 379 won the Working Bobtail category. Mike Lemley owns the truck, which is named “Cathouse.”
Jerry Kissinger’s black cherry 1978 Mack Superliner, “Puff,” won the Limited-Mileage Bobtail category.
